Mute the bass to practise walking lines yourself, or the chords to hear only the rhythm section. Settings are saved on this device.
How to practise with it
- Start slow: a ii–V–I at 80 bpm in swing, playing only guide tones (3rds and 7ths).
- Raise the tempo 5 bpm at a time, and move the key up a tone each loop.
- Switch to bossa or ballad to hear the same changes in a different groove.
The progressions
- ii–V–I in major, and minor ii–V–i
- Turnaround I–vi–ii–V
- Twelve-bar jazz blues
- Rhythm changes, A section
- Cycle of fifths to the relative minor
